# Publish attributes to study

This task is only available on data node contains sample/cell by feature matrix data node. It will publish one or more attributes to the project level, so the attribute can be edited and seen from matrix data nodes within an analysis. This function can be used on annotate sample or cell task output data node, graph based cluster data node etc.

## Running publish cell attributes to project

* Click on a graph-based clusters data node which contains graph-based clustering group result.
* Choose **Publish attributes to project** in the *Annotation/Metadata* section of the toolbox

This invokes the dialog as

From the drop-down list to select one or more attributes to publish. Only numeric attributes and categorical attributes with less than 1000 levels will be available in the list.

After selection e.g *Graph-based* attribute from the list , click on the plus button (![](https://580316046-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FWMxqQAMFOJtu98OBk9KN%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-71ee3f6e5a5f58d85c59bc5147db3610c2dc1321%2Fimage%20\(53\).png?alt=media)) to add, change the attribute by typing in the *New name* box

Click **Finish** at the bottom of the page, all of the attributes will be available to edit on the Metadata tab. For bulk data, it is in sample attributes; for single cell data, it will be at Cell attributes. All data nodes in the project will be able to use those attributes.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.bioinsight.illumina.com/icm/analyses/analysis-functionality/task-menu/annotation-metadata/publish-cell-attributes-to-project.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
