# Discover Page

## Overview

The Discover page lets you explore Connected Insights with demo cases prepared by Illumina, without uploading any data of your own. Use it to see how Connected Insights handles the applications it supports, from the case Results page through to the report.

An **application** is an application or workflow that Connected Insights supports. Illumina curates the applications, demo cases, and resources shown on Discover, and they can change over time. Some applications may not have demo cases yet.

Demo cases are read-only, and storing them does not consume credits. The Discover page is available in Connected Insights - Cloud only.

## Open the Discover Page

1. In the header, select the application selector.
2. Select **Discover**.

If your workgroup has no cases, Connected Insights opens the Discover page instead of the Cases Page. To return to your cases, select **Connected Insights** in the header.

## Browse Applications

The Discover page shows one card for each application. A card includes the application icon, a description, and the number of available demo cases.

1. Select an application card that has demo cases.
2. Review the application description and the list of demo cases.
3. To return to the full list of applications, select **All applications**.

Each demo case shows summary information, such as its title, description, and assay details. Each demo case also provides:

* **Report PDF** — opens the case report in a new tab.
* **Configuration Preview** — opens the test definition for the case, read-only, in a new tab.

## Open a Demo Case

Select a demo case to open its Results page. Explore the case as you would any other case:

* [Results / Overview Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/cm-overview-tab.md)
* [Variants Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/inter-variant-grid.md)
* [Visualize Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/cm-visualize-tab.md)
* [Lab QC Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/cm-lab-qc-tab.md)
* [Report Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/cm-report-tab.md)

## Demo Cases Are Read-Only

Regardless of your role in your workgroup, demo cases cannot be modified. Within a demo case you cannot:

* Edit the case, tags, or participants.
* Merge cases.
* Add comments.
* Add or export filters, use the tab actions menu, or delete the case.
* Edit or approve the report.

You can still preview the report and download it as PDF or DOCX.

## Upload Your Own Data

To work with your own data, select **Upload Your Own Data** on the Discover page. For the supported ways to upload data, see [Data Upload](/connected-insights/configure/configuration/du-introduction.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.bioinsight.illumina.com/connected-insights/overview/discover-page.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
