# Add Variant

If you ever notice an inaccurate variant call or have additional variants from another test to report, small variants and copy number variants can be added to the case at any time, ensuring your analyses are both accurate and comprehensive.

1. Navigate to the [Case Page](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/inter-introduction.md) of a case.
2. Towards the upper right corner of the interface, click the "+" icon.![](https://1917818526-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FrkSuX7Vmcc4W5JjlZQyx%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-68630f7f20ac84f7a0e2e6fcf419c78f398a1856%2Fimage%20\(20\).png?alt=media)
3. Click **Add Variant**.
4. Read the instructions and complete the form. Required fields are indicated with an asterisk (\*).

Note that a variant can be added from any tab within the case, such as on the [Visualize Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/cm-visualize-tab.md). The "+" icon is also accessible when a [Biomarker Details](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/viewdetails-introduction.md) page overlay is open; simply pull down the overlay to reveal.

A Karyotype can also be added from the "+" icon. See [Results / Overview Tab](/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/cm-overview-tab.md) for additional info on Karyotype.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.bioinsight.illumina.com/connected-insights/interpret-and-report/add-variant.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
