# Configuration

## Overview

This page allows you to customize and optimize Connected Insights to suit your specific workflow and preferences. Here, you can configure various settings related to case management, data visualization, variant analysis, and report generation. By tailoring these options, you ensure that the tool aligns perfectly with your needs, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in your genetic analysis and reporting processes.

## Getting Around

To navigate to the configuration page, click the ⚙ icon in the top right corner.

## Illumina-Provided Default Resources

Connected Insights provides default resources, such as test definitions, variant filters, variant flag groups, and report templates. Default resources are marked **Provided by Illumina** in the Configuration lists.

Default resources are shared with every workgroup and cannot be updated. To customize one, select **Copy As New** to copy it into your workgroup. Your copy belongs to your workgroup, and later updates to the Illumina default do not change it.

Disease Configuration works differently. Your workgroup has its own disease configuration, which you can edit directly, and an update to the Illumina default never changes it. To take up the current Illumina default, select **Restore to Default**. See [Disease Configuration](/connected-insights/configure/configuration/c-disease-configuration.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.bioinsight.illumina.com/connected-insights/configure/configuration.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
