# Data Catalog

A **data catalog** is a curated, versioned bundle of annotation data sources (clinical databases, population frequencies, conservation scores, gene models, and more) that DRAGEN Annotation uses at runtime. Each catalog is scoped to a reference assembly (`GRCh37`, `GRCh38`) and split into **categories** such as `basic`, `germline-tagging`, `methylation`, `premium`, and `tmb`. Categories flagged as **premium** require Professional credentials; the rest are available with a free MyIllumina API Key.

The tables below show exactly which data sources and versions each catalog ships with. Use this page to decide, before running `Annotator setup` or `Annotator download`, which catalog and which categories you need. During `setup`, you will pick a catalog by its `Catalog ID` (e.g. `20260501`) and one or more assemblies; `setup` then generates the matching run configs (one per assembly + category) that `download` consumes.
